About My Work
I am a one-man leather shop.
Every piece is designed, cut, stitched, and finished entirely by hand. No outsourcing. No mass production. No shortcuts.
I don’t make leather goods because I have to—I make them because it’s my passion. I take pride in the work, and I build every piece to a standard that I’m willing to stand behind.
I am not in competition with anyone, and I do not rely on this business to survive. Because of that, I don’t rush jobs, I don’t cut corners, and I don’t adjust my standards to meet a price.

My Process
Every item is made through a deliberate, hands-on process:
Consultation (Custom Work)
We discuss your idea, intended use, and expectations. Once you have approved of the design and paid, the work starts and no changes will be made.
Material Selection
I choose materials based on durability, function, and quality—not cost cutting. Period.
Build
All cutting, assembly, and stitching is done by hand.
Finishing
Edges are burnished, structure is refined, and details are completed to a high standard.
Final Inspection
If it’s not right, it doesn’t leave the shop.
Personalization of Non LLL items
Many of my clients want me to make adjustments or add items, even laser imaging. This is fine, but you must understand that it will void your warranty and there is NO guarantee your item will not be damaged in the process. There are no refunds on personalization's, although I will attempt to adjust anything you do not like. Full payment is required before work starts.

If someone else can do it cheaper, I recommend you go with them.
If you are looking for the cheapest option, I’m not for you. I'm here to build heirloom, legacy, and heritage pieces.
If you are comparing this to mass-produced or outsourced products, you will find lower prices elsewhere.
That’s not what I do.
If you want something built by hand, with intention, and made to last—I’m here for that.

About the Artist
Laird Krug is a Texas-based leather artist, craftsman, and former law enforcement officer whose work blends traditional craftsmanship, functional design, and artistic storytelling. With a professional background rooted in leadership, public service, and instruction, his approach to leathercraft reflects both technical precision and creative individuality.
Laird earned an Associate’s Degree from Houston Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from University of Houston–Victoria, and a Master of Public Administration from Sam Houston State University. He also graduated as Class President of the prestigious Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College, Class #89. While not currently a commissioned police officer, he maintains his Texas Peace Officer License as active.
Over the course of a 15-year law enforcement career, Laird served primarily as a Patrol Sergeant and lead training instructor in multiple disciplines, specializing in leadership, field operations, emergency response, and officer development. His responsibilities extended beyond patrol supervision into fleet management, program development, policy work, community engagement initiatives, and service as Interim Lieutenant. Throughout his career, he developed a reputation for mentorship, crisis leadership, and hands-on problem solving.
Leathercraft entered his life unexpectedly while teaching a series of Active Shooter Response courses alongside a fellow instructor and close friend. What began as curiosity quickly evolved into a serious artistic pursuit and eventually into Lairds Leather Lair — a workshop dedicated to handcrafted leather goods ranging from traditional utility items to highly specialized artistic commissions.
Today, Laird focuses on creating custom leatherwork that bridges rugged craftsmanship with creative expression. His work includes knife sheaths, wet-molded bags, backpacks, belts, wallets, fantasy-inspired pieces, motorcycle gear, executive items, and one-of-a-kind specialty projects that many makers simply will not attempt. Drawing inspiration from Texas culture, folklore, gothic art, functional carry gear, and traditional craftsmanship, each piece is designed to carry both purpose and personality.
In addition to leathercraft, Laird has experience in organizational training development, emergency management studies, community outreach programming, and instructional leadership. His philosophy remains rooted in craftsmanship, authenticity, and building pieces meant to last — both structurally and artistically.
